Being new to full time RV'ing we learned a lesson on how important it is to check the level of the batteries that run our 12 volt system.
After breaking down several times. A couple in the heat of the desert.
What I originaly believed was a bad fuel pump, I replaced. Both the manual and "electric" fuel pump.
Then the refrigerator, followed by the generator, followed by the charging system to the battery that needs to be charged in order for the RV motor to run. Everything was going out. One after the other. We thought the alternator was going. And then the kicker was that just by total chance the Starter went out. That was just bad luck and had nothing to do with the problem we were missing.
We were tight on a schedule to get back home for Dee Dee's Doctor apointment.
I tried everything, including running cables from the car we had in tow on our dolly to the charging system on the RV. This was a great temporary fix to getting on the road. We would just let the car idle and it's charging system was keeping the RV running. This would get us home. But as our luck would have it. That was the moment that the starter decided it had had enough.
We had to leave our RV in a motel parking lot (with permision) until we could get Dee Dee's docor visit taken care of about 1000 miles away.
Any way while in Spokane Wash, I realized what the problem might be.
The batteries!!!
Sure enough, once we made it back to our Beautifull Travco, I checked the batteries.
How much more stupid could I have been?
Threw a new set of batteries in because the present ones were shot from not checking the level in them.
Replaced the starter and, everything started working!!
The Refrigerator, the Generator stoped acting up, the Fuel system was running properly, the charging system was "complete". ;D
I learned that apparently those batteries need to be in good order or the whole system basicly shuts down.
We are back on the road again, living it up in our Travco!
